The coral growth rivals any destination in the Caribbean. The turquoise water has a crystal clear visibility that normally exceeds 100ft. In 1980, Cozumel's reefs were declared a national park and now are protected. As a marine refuge, it is prohibited to take, break, damage or destroy any marine organisms.
